Endorsed as the next big thing in technology, wearable gadgets have flooded the fledgling wearable industry with array of Internet-connected smartwatches and head-mounted devices. Wearables represent a wide range of category that includes – fitness trackers, smartwatches, smart glasses, military gadgets, interactive clothing like tattoos and even ingestible pills that collect data while wandering our inner body parts. In the near future, people will embellish their lives with wearable gadgets. A cloud filled with abundance of information will float around them including details of their sleeping habits, what they ate for lunch, whom they met, what plans do they have in coming week, month or year as well as their health updates like heart rate, sugar level, blood pressure and much more. Undoubtedly, to meet the hype and outpace the demand, companies are rushing out with snazzy gadgets. And, for that they will be taking leverage of consumer’s goldmine data like Insurance companies will likely use the data to adjust their policies and offerings, marketers will likely harvest the personalized data to market their products and much more. But in racing to meet the hype, many companies may have outpaced demand and rushed out products too soon.

  1. These gadgets might get their market pie for various consumers. Even I might also use with curiosity.
    But I am thinking few points strongly – With present wrist watches, we dont take any headache of recharging daily. To help users to not make manual winding, Swiss makers had progressive thoughts in design – automatic self winding watch which wound automatically as a result of natural motion of arm which provides reqd energy to run the watch mechanism. Then Quartz came and made revolution. Even for digital watches, watchmaker introduced solar cells.

    Now for these SMARTWATCHES, I’m wondering how users will change their habit( and take headache) to strap out daily to recharge for screen resolutions, wifi, net, running limited apps n activities! Demand for cell power will b very high. Even if they design to charge it while working, ppl might make a mess often while standing up fast from working or leisure postures while smartwatch wrapped in arm n charging simultaneously.
